Acura Teams Making a Good Lead to the Championship

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Kensai Racing with Compass360’s Acuras head to Utah’s challenging Miller Motorsports Park for the second to the last round of the Grand Am KONI Challenge.

Four of the team’s drivers made to the top-ten positions in the driver’s championship. Their team’s #76 Acura TSX, driven by Billy Johnson and Karl Thomson car gets the second place with the #74 car the sixth and Acura is leading the championship.

The competition is very tight in the KONI series with only two races left to run but the team is still pushing hard. “We want to retake the driver’s and team’s championships at Miller,” said Crew Chief Ray Lee. “It’s been a close battle all year between the two teams and we expect another good fight at Miller,” noted Thomson. The team narrowed the gap at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres, Quebec, finishing second after maintaining a solid pace in a race of attrition.

Last year, Thomson and Johnson drove together at Miller and enjoyed the circuit. “It’s a real driver’s track. Really technical, with long, sweeping fast corners; no real reference points and some nice elevation changes and banking,” said Johnson. For just the third time this year, the ST-class cars will be on track with the faster GS- class, which is both enjoyed by Thomson and Johnson. “The last time we combined with GS, at Watkins Glen, we took the win, just like we did at Daytona so that bodes well for Utah. Billy is always amazing in traffic, and I really enjoy driving amongst the GS cars, especially on a wide-open track like Miller,” Thomson remarked.

Ranking the sixth place is also the team’s #74 Acura RSX-S which is driven by series veteran David Tuaty and rookie Matt Pritiko. Tuaty joined the team in mid-season, and the pair’s finishes have steadily improved, resulting in a fourth place at Trois- Rivieres. “Matt and David really showed how strong they are in Quebec. They can challenge for the lead in these next two races and we’ll do what we can to get them into onto the podium,” said Lee.

The #75 TSX will be driven by Beau Buisson and Aaron Povoledo. Both are quick and consistent. Buisson led much of the season-opening of Daytona race, and the #75 has continued to have strong showings at every event. Buisson, driving with Taz Harvey, has a season-high finish of fifth at Mosport.

“We’re doing everything we can to get the championship! We were testing at Mosport last weekend, and I think we’ve made some measurable improvements. We’re still aiming to get all three cars to finish in the top ten, and I do believe we can get two on the podium before the year is out,” exclaimed Thomson. The team was very close at Trois Rivieres making them to hit the second and fourth positions.

Acura Participates in Resolution Program

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Car owners usually experience having defective vehicles still under warranty. To help keep away from inconvenience, more than 20 major auto manufacturers participate in the Better Business Bureau’s warranty dispute settlement program. This assists car owners to reach a resolution for faulty vehicles which are still covered to warranty.

The BBB’s Auto Line program is now one of the largest auto programs in the world and also pioneered the out-of-court program in the U.S.

Acura participates in the program along with other manufacturers including Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Kia, Lincoln, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Volkswagen. Other car manufacturers participate on a state-by-state basis.

Customers may relay the defective vehicle problem to the BBB staff. They can help car owners to reach voluntary settlements with manufacturers and forego a settlement process. But, if a settlement can not be accomplished, consumers may present their case to an impartial arbitrator which is free of charge. The arbitrator will render a decision that may include repairs, reimbursement or the repurchase or replacement of the consumer’s vehicle.

The manufacturer is bound to comply if the car owner accepts the arbitrator’s decision. Since the decision is nonbinding for the consumer, it can be rejected by the car owner. The consumer may also pursue any other options including legal action. The entire process is provided free of charge to consumers and is normally completed within 40 days.

Latest Improvements for the 2007 Acura TL Type-S

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

One of the best sport-luxury cars is the Acura TL. There are a lot of powerful and well-equipped features that make up this model which makes it comfortable and distinctive among others.

This year several aesthetic changes were made to Acura TL. The grille, headlights, fog lamps, and taillights have been redesigned but the most recognizable for the type-S version are the exclusive bumpers, rear decklid spoiler, quad exhaust tailpipes plus the magnificent gunmetal alloy wheels.

On the interior, a nice contrast for the dashboard is well-executed, the seats are perfect, metal pedals fit well with the sporty character of the car, fluorescent illumination of the instrument pod is good, and the controls around the steering wheel are all well-placed and easy to use while driving.

A magnificent 6-disc changer sound system is installed that can read DVD-Audio discs, MP3 and WMA files. The radio can also receive XM satellite radio and the performance of the speakers is impressive. A noise-cancellation system is also equipped to the Type-S. It is called the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), a technology borrowed from the bigger RL. Microphones are set up in the cockpit and record ambient noise. The opposed-amplitude waves are then emitted from the speakers to cancel out road noise and render the cockpit quieter.

A 3.5-liter engine V6 is constructed which is taken from the RL car. The slightly modified 286-horsepower V6 offers 28 more than the base TL, and benefits from an absolutely fantastic soundtrack. The 6-speed manual gearbox deals with the engine’s power and the clutch pedal is flexible for the left leg. The car accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 11.9 L/100 km.

The Type-S with the manual transmission includes a limited-slip differential with the VSA or traction and stability control. The four-piston Brembo calipers for the braking system are extremely competent. The stiffer anti-roll bars, springs and shocks make the TL very dynamic.

With all the characteristics packed in one vehicle, Acura TL is a comfortable, fast, attractive and inexpensive sedan.
