Acura Heater Core
Your engine is the power source of the entire vehicle, wherein it burns fuel and convert it into mechanical energy in order for the vehicle to be mobile and operational. Almost 75% of the burned fuel is converted into heat. This heat is controlled by the cooling system so as to prevent the engine from overheating. It is absorbed via the coolant that is circulated by the system throughout the engine system. Before the hot coolant is directed to the radiator for cooling, it is first delivered to the Acura heater core. This is the radiator-like device used for heating the vehicle's cabin. It is the primary component of the heating system that supplies warm air through the vehicle's interior. It is composed of a series of air ducts, blower motor, fan, and temperature and duct control that allows the driver to select the desired temperature and direct the flow of warm air inside the passenger's compartment.
The Acura heater core is connected to the cooling system via a pair of rubber hoses. One hose serves as the supply channel that brings hot coolant from the water pump to the heater core and the other hose as a return path that channels back the coolant at the top of the engine. A heater control valve is usually installed in one of the hoses to block the coolant flow into the heater core in case maximum air conditioning is called for. In order to direct the warm air from the heater core to the interior of the vehicle, a fan or blower is employed.
